Killing Eve, BBC show

One of my favorite shows, Killing Eve, just came out with season two. Based around a spy expelling of horrible people from the world, or simply killing people who step into her path, the excitement around it all is what connects people to the story. What really drew me in and what I'm assuming brought others in as well was the fact of how in reality there are many terrible people that a lot wish to get rid of, especially head leaders of countries. So as the main character Villanelle, kills infamous people with a dark crime it allows us to go into this fantasy world which at some point in time we wish similar events like in the show happened in real life. I also believe what gets people so interested in it is how Villanelle can snap in any moment, which leaves us as the viewer with suspense at the ending of every scene or episode. Suspense is portrayed in a lot of movies and tv shows as it makes you interested in wanting more and more, almost as if it is never going to end. I also took note of the type of music the play in certain scenes. As in when someone is about to get killed they play mellow and eerie music to catch our attention, as something sad and adrenaline rushing is going to happen. While in a cheerful scene they favor playing up beat music with a lot of base beats and loud instruments which gets our heart racing like the characters.

  1. I agree that suspense keeps us intrigued in a movie or a show.

  2. Hi, it's really Ashley Jun because her blog comments don't work. "As someone who hasn't seen this show, something else that the writers seem to have intentionally done was make the main character's name Villanelle. I'm not sure how that is pronounced, but my guess is that it is similar to the word villain and the last part of the word is Elle as in making the word villain feminine. It's this kind of word association that goes unnoticed but is able to keep the audience connected. Especially with shows like this that are close to reality, the word association greatly connects to her actions being to kill the 'villains' of this world. And while this post wasn't a campaign for the show, I am intrigued by this show and the concept of it."
